We want you to meet Michele Janezic, our friend from Brooklyn.

Who are you and what inspires you?

Based on a childhood passion, I transitioned into the fashion industry 15 years ago and have held varying roles of heading up and buying for retail stores, designing my own clothing line, and representing brands at wholesale. A couple years ago, I made the leap back to living in New York after spending decades in California. I was born here and dreamt of returning for a long time.

I’m inspired by art, nature, makers, healers, dreamers, doers, truth seekers, universal messages, passionate people pushing beyond boundaries and those in pursuit of change for the greater good.

What kind of values do you have in life?

Love, kindness, authenticity, integrity, honesty, humility and humor are at the top of my list.

How would you describe your style?

Vintage-inspired, a bit tomboy and a touch romantic. I’d love to live in vintage dresses everyday but I’m usually in jeans paired with a low heel and bold lipstick.

What does the word ‘fashion’ mean to you?

Fashion has so many connotations that I don’t connect with. I prefer thinking in terms of personal style, individual expression and the apparel industry at large.

And what does the word ‘women’ bring to your mind?

Supportive, strong, nurturing, independent, loving, and beautiful life forces who are growing more empowered every day.

What kind of future dreams do you have?

I dream of attaining meaningful and fulfilling professional and personal goals. To be inspired, challenged, supported and happily surrounded by like-minded individuals. To actualize dreams that exceed my imagination. To travel more, to have new experiences and to push myself beyond my comfort zone mentally, physically, spiritually, creatively and emotionally. To continue growing, learning and loving every day.

Where would you like to travel to? Why?

In recent years I’ve had extensive exposure to Japanese culture, and I really hope to visit Japan someday soon. I’ve heard Mexico City is incredibly dynamic and inspiring and I’m newly interested in exploring Montreal.
